The Greetes
Richard, Crissy, Elizabeth, and Jonathan
Rich grew up near Chicago and became a Christian
in high school. In 1981 he graduated from Columbia International
University (CIU) where God began to direct him toward missions.
He received a Master of Divinity from Trinity International
University in 1984, and was ordained in 1985.
Crissy grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She professed faith in Christ as a child and at age ten sensed
that God wanted her to become a missionary. Crissy graduated
from CIU in 1982. They married in June of that year.
After attending Asian Cross Cultural Training
Institute in Singapore, the Greetes arrived in Sapporo, Japan,
in December of 1986 to begin language study. From January
1989 to 1991 Rich served at a church plant in northern Japan.
During their second term (1992-1996) the Greetes
served at a chruch plant near Sapporo. There Rich preached
weekly in Japanese as well as led group and individual Bible
studies. Crissy led outreach to women and children.
They also used golf, puppets, and family camp to reach people
with the gospel.
The Greetes received an invitation in 1996 to
join Mission to the World's church planting team in Chiba,
Japan. The team's goal is to "plant a thriving
presbytery (ten churches) by the year 2003".
Rich is a member of the Central Florida Presbytery,
and Crissy and their children are members of Seven Rivers
Presbyterian Church in Lecanto, Florida.
The Greetes have two children, born in Japan:
Elizabeth (8/18/88), and Jonathan (6/30/90).
