Craig, Ree, Daniel, Hannah, and Mary
Craig grew up in Maryland and became a Christian
during high school. After college, Craig taught high
school math and computer science for seven years, then he
worked as a computer programmer for five years.
Ree was horn in Delaware, grew up in Maryland,
and became a Christian during college. She has a bachelors
degree in Russian and a masters degree in teaching English
as a second language.
Craig and Ree were married in 1983.
Since that time, the Coulbournes have heen members of Columbia
Presbyterian Church (OPC) wherc Craig has served as a deacon
and an elder. Craig and Ree have been involved in small group
ministry, evangelism and teaching Sunday school.
The Coulbournes first began to consider
involvement in missions during college through the ministry
of InterVarsity. After they met MTW team leader Dan
Iverson, Craig and Ree spent the summer of 1987 in Japan.
In 1994 they returned to Japan for three years with MTW/lmpact,
and were involved in outreach through English classes, American
cooking classes, Seekers Bible studies, an international club
at a nearby university, and a homestay program for Japanese
students.
Craig and Ree joined MTW as career missionaries
in 1997. The Coulbournes are involved in building and
strengthening the Japanese church through church planting
and in seeking out future pastors and church leaders through
college ministry.
The Coulbournes have three children: Daniel
(5/1/91), Hannah (10/31/93), and Mary (8/23/95).
