The MTW Tokyo Team's main focus is an unreached people
group, i.e., the people of Japan (According to _Operation
Japan, Edition 2000_, page 22, there are 2.1 worship attenders
per 1,000 population. According to _Operation World,
21st Century Edition_, page 371, the percentage of the
Japanese population that is evangelical, is 0.4%.).
We are investing our resources of personnel (currently
9 career units on field, 3 on HMA, and 4 short-term units
on field), finances and prayer towards a church multiplication
movement among the Japanese.
Broken down, this work includes:
* evangelism among people who have never opened a Bible,
* discipleship of first-generation believers,
* missionary-led church planting,
* cooperative church planting alongside a Japanese church
planter,
* university student ministry,
* training interns for future ministry,
* affecting an indigenous denomination through modeling
all of the above and through leading missions vision trips
to southeast Asia and helping the denomination form a
foreign missions sending agency,
* and helping start and providing ongoing leadership for
a nationwide bilingual Reformed-based church planting
institute that provides training, vision for a multiplication
ministry, and spiritual refreshment in the Gospel for
Japanese pastors and missionaries from many agencies.
